ChromePie Xposed module puts pie controls in your browser

To say that Android is customizable is an understatement. With tools like the Xposed framework, you really can make Android “your own,” without any of the hyperbole you typically see in ads and press releases. Case in point, ChromePie, a new Xposed module that lets you add easily accessible pie controls to Chrome and Chrome Beta. Pie controls is a concept first introduced on the Paranoid Android custom ROM that places navigation controls in a radial format, hence the name pie.

Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro hands on review

Not everyone who needs a smartphone has the luxury of being able to baby it. Whether it’s because of their job or simple clumsiness, some people need a phone that is tougher than most smartphones, and that’s where the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro comes in. Waze vs Google Maps vs Apple Maps

The dawn of the smartphone age had us cheering for GPS chips and easy, on-the-go navigation. No longer were we beholden to sites like MapQuest (which still exists as a mobile app, by the way) and printing out directions. Instead, we could open up our maps app, input a destination, and receive live, turn-by-turn directions. It was like having a pocket-sized Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, or Ferdinand Magellan as your permanent wingman.

WhatsApp set to gain reverse image search functionality

WhatsApp already has a few measures to limit the spread of fake news and hoaxes, but the Facebook-owned messaging platform isn’t finished yet. The company is reportedly adding Google’s reverse image search functionality to the app. The feature was spotted by serial tipster WABetaInfo, but it’s not available to users just yet. Nevertheless, you’ll apparently be able to conduct a reverse image search by highlighting a photo, then choosing a new “search image” option that appears in the three-dot menu.

5G, fast screens, and more

Robert Triggs / Android Authority Everything changed in 2020. With COVID-19, much of the world’s population was forced to quarantine in the hopes of preventing the spread of the virus. That led us to become reliant on video calls and social networks far more than we had been in the past. Our phones helped keep us connected, entertained, and distracted from the relative horrors of the world around us. Thankfully, mobile tech kept innovation apace throughout the year despite the hellfire that was 2020.

Xiaomi’s idea was to create differentiation in order to cater to diverse audiences looking for very different things from their phones. A major part of this strategy has been the advent of sub-brands. While the concept originated in China, it has really taken hold in India.
