Now here we are, announcing that the newly-renamed company is laying off about 800 employees, or about seven percent of its staff. The source of this information is an anonymous person who shared an email with CNBC. The internal memo was sent to employees by VMG CEO Guru Gowrappan.

David Imel / Android Authority Budget phones are all the hype, and these two are industry favorites. The Google Pixel 4a is known for its simplicity, a drop-dead $349 MSRP, and the same amazing camera performance Pixel phones are known for. It could very well be the best camera phone at its price range, but there is another main competitor with an incredible camera already in the mid-range market: Apple’s iPhone SE.

OnePlus One vs OnePlus 9 Pro compared

In the last seven years, the smartphone industry has seen some incredible evolutions in technology. Security is better, batteries are more efficient, and displays feature advancements like high refresh rates. Still, these improvements pale in comparison to the changes found in smartphone cameras. With the OnePlus 9 Pro so heavily marketed on its photography prowess, I thought it fitting to compare the brand’s latest flagship with the original flagship killer, 2014’s OnePlus One, to see how much OnePlus’ camera tech has evolved.

It's 2022, phones should be built to last five years or more

Robert Triggs / Android Authority If you’ve bought a new smartphone recently, hopefully, you’re planning to keep it for a very long time. Modern hardware is more than good enough that it should last many years. Rather than specs falling out of date, a lack of updates or the need to repair a broken screen or battery is likely to be the barrier to realizing this long-term investment. That’s certainly the way the wind of consumer trends is blowing.

Folders on the Android desktop, and how to rename them

Thanks to Matt Miller at ZDNet’s The Mobile Gadgeteer, I now know how to rename a folder on the Android desktop. It isn’t rocket science, and I’m sure plenty of you out there stumbled upon it on your own. But since it’s not obvious, I thought it might be worthwhile to share how it works – and what folders are good for in the first place. For starters, create a folder on one of the three desktop panels by long pressing somewhere on the screen and selecting Folder from the Shortcut menu.
