Android Pie brought plenty of new additions, but one of the more polarizing decisions was the move to disable Wi-Fi scan throttling.
This move limits how often apps can scan Wi-Fi, be it for an integral system feature, to improve connectivity, or to save battery life. The throttling means foreground apps can only run four Wi-Fi scans every two minutes, while background apps are only allowed to run a scan once every 30 minutes.

When the Pixel Tablet was first revealed, at Google I/O 2022 earlier in May, the understandable focus of most people was on how Google was planning to evolve Android’s lackluster tablet segment. Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners are reporting swollen batteries and rear covers popping off. Some users have been able to get replacement devices out of warranty, while others aren’t so lucky. Swollen batteries are a serious matter in the gadget space, but we usually only see this phenomenon happen on old devices. Unfortunately, it looks like the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are suffering from this problem too.
