Sony Mobile may have only broke through into the phone market shortly after the turn of the century, but the Japanese manufacturer quickly rose to the top with products that redefined the way we use our smartphones.
An early period of innovation thrust the company into the limelight as it offered a credible alternative to handsets from then-leaders RIM, Nokia and Motorola. However, like many of the OEMs of that era, the company failed to respond to the threat from the Apple iPhone when it launched in 2007, and it has now become a bit-part player in the ever-competitive mobile industry.
Xiaomi/Lazada Malaysia
Update, September 2, 2020 (4:20 AM ET): The Xiaomi Redmi 9A is coming to India, the company confirmed in a brief virtual announcement.
It’s the same device that launched in Malaysia and several other markets earlier this year, including a 6.53-inch display, a MediaTek Helio G25 chipset, and a 5,000mAh battery. On paper, it’s a pretty solid budget option especially when the sticker price is factored in.
On that note, the Redmi 9A will be available on Amazon from September 4 with the sale kicking off at 12PM IST (2:30 AM ET).

According to the carrier, there will not be a OnePlus 8T Verizon model. This leaves the OnePlus 8 UW as the only OnePlus phone on Verizon’s shelves. Thankfully, Big Red says it will likely support activations of the new smartphone. Earlier this year, OnePlus hit the big leagues when it launched the OnePlus 8 UW on the largest wireless carrier in the United States, Verizon.

Motorola has demonstrated its improved take on over-the-air charging. The company’s Space Charging solution offers the ability to charge four devices at once. The improved tech also allows users to charge devices at up to three meters away. Xiaomi was the first major brand to demonstrate air charging technology, showing off its Mi Air Charge solution earlier this year that allows users to charge their devices over the air.
Some OnePlus users are reporting a strange audio problem on their older OnePlus flagships. According to complaints compiled by Android Police, OnePlus phones are weirdly swapping right and left audio channels on wired headphones. These complaints have been spotted on OnePlus’ own forums, Reddit, and XDA’s forums.
So how does the issue affect OnePlus users? Well, swapped audio channels means that audio that’s meant to be heard through the right ear is actually playing out in the left ear.
2018’s Samsung Galaxy Watch is a decent fitness device, but it isn’t exactly the easiest smartwatch to take with you during a workout. It resembles more of a bulky hiking watch than a sleek fitness companion.
Enter: the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. This new Samsung smartwatch is sleeker and will likely appeal to more users due to its simpler design. It’s about the same size as the last-generation Gear Sport, with its 1.
Let’s be honest; we’ve all dropped our phones at some point or another — holding our breath as it bounces off a hard surface. Sometimes we get lucky, suffering only a few scratches. But there’s nothing worse than having huge cracks down the glass of your screen. When it comes to protecting your phone from drops, bumps, and fumbles, Otterbox cases have one of the best reputations. With the iPhone 13 Otterbox cases on sale for 25% off, you can save yourself peace of mind by knowing your new iPhone 13 is safe from any accident.
Update, July 28 2020 (2:20AM ET): Qualcomm announced the ability to download GPU driver updates via app stores late last year, largely being restricted to flagship and upper-tier phones. Xiaomi was one of the first to implement this functionality, in the form of a dedicated GPU driver update app for the Mi 10 series.
Now, Oppo has done the same for the Find X2 series (h/t: XDA-Developers), with users downloading a dedicated updater utility from an app store.
Under the Radar is a new series in which we talk about awesome apps and games that many people don't know about. Have a suggestion for an app/game we should check out next? Leave us a comment at the bottom of this post!
I think it’s pretty well known in the Android world that the official Facebook app is less than perfect. Okay, I personally think it’s downright bad, but it works for some people.
