Online banking is one of those conveniences of the modern age that seem pretty obvious. I mean, if you can assure your customers that they can do transactions without taking a trip to the bank and lining up for what could probably be a ten to thirty minute wait, then you’d probably jump on it. Well, a lot of banks still haven’t got the message – but there’s one less bank to worry about.

Supplied by Sony Sony launched the Xperia 1 II in early 2020 and followed up with the Xperia 5 II in the second half of the year. But the company isn’t waiting around in 2021, as it’s simultaneously launched the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III. As we saw last year with Sony’s flagships, the Xperia 5 III is the one to get if you value a more sensibly sized phone compared to today’s large flagships.

Google Pixel Buds 2 release date hinted by online retailer

Google’s famed true wireless earbuds — the Pixel Buds 2 — might launch as soon as this month. The hearables were first announced back in October and were recently listed on the website of US-based retailer Abt Electronics. Now, a trusted reader tells 9to5Google that the retailer is sending out emails to all those who preordered the next-gen TWS earbuds. The email apparently quotes information from Google itself. It claims that the Pixel Buds 2 will arrive at the retailer’s warehouse sometime in late April or early May.

Motorola is finally bringing desktop mode to its phones

Motorola first dabbled with the feature back in 2011. Samsung and Huawei were the first brands to offer the new generation of desktop mode, allowing users to get a PC-like experience when their phone was connected to an external display. But Motorola was arguably the first manufacturer to dabble with the tech in the early 2010s.

OnePlus 9 Pro teardown reveals the phone can be difficult to repair

Eric Zeman / Android Authority TL;DR As per a teardown by iFixit, the OnePlus 9 Pro is not the easiest phone to repair. The device scored a 4 out of 10 on iFixit‘s repairability scale. Its glued-on rear panel, extensive disassembly, and hard-to-remove display are to blame. The OnePlus 9 Pro has received iFixit‘s famous teardown treatment, and things are not looking great as far as its repairability is concerned.

Save or backup apps for offline install with ES File Explorer Pro - Android customization

We know that only a few of you were able to follow along last week with our Google OnbHub Android customization project. For those that did, we hope your guests are now enjoying your network attached resources without compromising your security. This week, let’s look at a tool from a specific app to help with offline usage. Needless to say, users have been eagerly waiting for the ROG Phone 6, and the wait is almost over.

AT&T spooked customers with misleading phone upgrade warning

TL;DR AT&T scared customers with an email telling them to upgrade phones to continue service. However, it didn’t say customers had until February 2022 to switch, making some wonder if it was a scam. The carrier said the omission was a mistake. Android Police reports that AT&T customers received an email message telling them their phones are “not compatible” with its latest network technology and need to be upgraded to “continue receiving service.

Google Files Go app will keep your phone organized and free of junk (Update: Beta app now live)

Update (5/12): Launching with Android Go today, Files Go has now graduated from beta status and is available for everyone in the Play Store. Update (11/9): Google Files Go is now available to download in an early beta build on the Play Store. The app briefly showed up on the store earlier this week before it was pulled. Apparently Google is now happy for us all to give it a try and is welcoming feedback to help improve the app for its official launch sometime in the future.
