Razer store grand opening in Las Vegas

We had the chance to check out the grand opening of the new Razer store in Las Vegas. Doors opened at noon on September 7, 2019, and fans came out in droves to experience it. This store is more than just a retail outlet, it’s an experience. Think of it as a gamer’s hangout where you can put hands on almost anything before you buy. I particularly enjoyed the view of the store from the DJ booth, which is half way up the stairs toward the live streaming studio.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will no longer get updates

TL;DR Samsung Galaxy Note 5 updates and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus updates are now discontinued. The most recent August updates for both devices will be their last. There could be a critical update issued in the future if necessary, but regular updates won’t come. If you’re looking forward to new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 updates or security patches for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, unfortunately, you’re out of luck.

Audio-Technica’s excellent ATH-M50X headphones can be yours for $89.99 today (refurb)

Audio-Technica is one of our favorite headphone brands, thanks to the great bang for the buck it delivers. Today, you can have the highly rated ATH-M50X headphones for cheaper, with a small catch – we’re talking about a refurbished product. As part of its Gold Box Deal of the Day promo, Amazon is offering factory refurbished Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones (black) for $89.99. That’s the lowest price we’ve seen for these headphones, which normally sell on Amazon for around $120.

Minecraft Pocket Edition update brings realm improvements and more

Minecraft Pocket Edition is without a doubt one of the most popular mobile games available for Android, in large part due to just how addictive the game can be. Even better, every new update seems to bring the mobile app a step closer to the deeper level of features found in the PC version. While the latest .0.7.3 update might be a minor one, it is no exception. So what’s new exactly? For starters, the game brings the sun, moon and stars.

Nearby Share could offer seamless sharing between your own devices

Joe Hindy / Android Authority TL;DR Google’s Nearby Share feature could gain a so-called Self Share mode soon. This would remove the need for approving shares between your own devices. Nearby Share is Android’s own take on local file-sharing, inspired by Apple’s Air Drop feature. However, one mild annoyance is that you need to approve each incoming share, even when sharing files between your own devices. Fortunately, it seems like Google is working on a solution.

Forget about easily installing Google apps on the Mate 30 Pro

The Mate 30 Pro is a gorgeous phone, but it’s also very hard to recommend because it officially lacks access to Google apps and the Play Store. Unofficially, an easy-to-use solution to “re-Google” the Huawei Mate 30 Pro has been available from day one. Not anymore though. LZPlay.net, the Chinese website hosting the tool for installing the Play Store on the Mate 30 Pro, is now offline. The likely reason is the media attention LZPlay received after Magisk developer John Wu detailed exactly how the tool works.

Rugged Samsung Galaxy S8 Active poses for the camera

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active (model number SM-G892A) is just around the corner. The Wireless Power Consortium, which is the group behind the Qi wireless charging standard, has posted the first image of the upcoming smartphone on its website. As you can see, the Galaxy S8 Active doesn’t have the curved screen that’s found on the S8 and S8 Plus. It features a robust body, which ensures that the device will keep working without any issues in case you drop it to the ground from time to time.

Solutions to your Pixel 2 XL problem

The Pixel 2 XL is meant to showcase everything Google has to offer. The performance is fantastic, the camera is excellent, and the software is what Google wants Android to be. Unfortunately, hardware issues have dominated the conversation instead. From the display to the speakers, users have come across more than one Pixel 2 XL problem that shouldn’t be plaguing an expensive flagship. No device is without its issues of course, and this smartphone is definitely no exception.

You prefer adaptive to static refresh rate

A high refresh rate is one of the key selling points for top-end smartphones in 2021, delivering a smoother, more responsive screen experience in supported apps and games. Whether it’s 90Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz, it’s hard to find a flagship phone that doesn’t offer this feature. We’ve also seen the emergence of phones with an adaptive refresh rate, automatically offering a much lower refresh rate (e.g. 10Hz) when reading an ebook but scaling up to 120Hz or more when playing games or scrolling through system menus.

Beats Studio Buds leak confirms a switch from Lightning to USB-C port

TL;DR Images and other details of the Beats Studio Buds have leaked thanks to a regulatory listing. The listing confirms that the stemless Apple earbuds will switch from a Lightning to a USB-C port for charging. The second-gen AirPods Pro are expected to borrow design elements from the new Beats buds. Apple’s subsidiary Beats is readying a new set of true wireless earbuds that could pave the way for future AirPods design.
