Saygus V2 to ship in first-quarter 2016

Well well! After laying low all December, Saygus has finally shuffled to the social media microphone and hesitantly announced that their long-awaited smartphone, the Saygus V2, will be shipping sometime between now and the end of March. Unfortunately, this is a story we’ve kind of heard before. Although Saygus is a little-known underdog that we’d really like to cheer for, this device originally premiered at CES 2015 – over a year ago – and has been plagued with postponements and missed deadlines ever since.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 review!

Update (10/12): In an unfortunate turn of events, Samsung has fully recalled and halted sales of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Considering Samsung’s current official recommendation is to turn off and return the Note 7, we can obviously no longer officially recommend the phone. It’s a shame too, as this device was easily the best phone ever created by Samsung, and perhaps the best by any OEM in smartphone history, with a strong 9.

The Nexus 6 is getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat again

Way back in March, Google began updating Nexus 6 devices to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Following the discovery of a number of bugs, the update was subsequently, disappointingly, pulled, plonking Nexus 6 owners back on Android 7.0 (unless they opted to soldier on with the unstable 7.1.1 build). Now, Google has released a new and seemingly solid version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Nexus 6. The ~368 MB update, which was spotted by Android Police, is currently being rolled out to the Nexus 6 over-the-air.

Top tips to make learning Android development easier

Learning to program is not easy, and you shouldn’t let anyone else tell you otherwise! Sure, titles like “Learn to Program in 5 Minutes” might sound appealing (I’m sure I’ve been guilty of this at some point), but it’s just not that straightforward. It’s much easier to build an app by following step-by-step instructions. You can follow one of my 7 minute videos for instance to make a basic game or quiz (so don’t be put off!

Motorola may have a unique, pocket-friendly rollable phone in the works

TL;DR Motorola may have a unique, pocket-friendly rollable phone in the works. The phone will not expand to become a tablet-sized device. It’s still in the early stages of development. Motorola’s next foldable phone may be a new one in its Razr lineup, but that’s not its most exciting upcoming device. According to a new leak, that title could go to a unique rollable phone currently codenamed Felix.

New wireless Samsung Dex keyboard quietly released

TL;DR Samsung just quietly launched a new wireless Samsung Dex keyboard. The keyboard is specifically designed with Dex in mind, even featuring a dedicated Dex button. Unfortunately, there are no release date, availability, or pricing details available. Samsung’s Dex platform is probably the most fully-fleshed-out Android desktop solution. With the latest Samsung phones and tablets, you can wirelessly use your device as if it were a desktop computer, with full access to all your apps and files.

TL;DR Sharp has launched the Aquos R2 Compact in Japan. It will pack a 5.2-inch display, Snapdragon 845 chip, and a top and bottom notch. A U.S. release is unlikely. Sharp has revealed the Aquos R2 Compact, in Japan. The small form factor device, revealed earlier today on Sharp’s website (via Reddit), will be released in Japan next January. The Aquos R2 Compact includes a 5.2-inch, Full-HD+, LCD display, Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of  storage.

Realme Pad Mini review: Right idea, wrong execution

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority I like small tablets. The form factor makes them uniquely placed to fill the gap between the not-quite-enough screen real estate of a smartphone, and the productivity over portability approach of larger slates. The space has largely been dominated by affordable tablets like Samsung’s A series and the Amazon ecosystem-entrenched Fire tablet line, but there’s still ample room for disruption. In fact, the category is ripe for some old-school Chinese disruption with high-end specs at cutthroat prices.
