How to use wireless Android Auto in an unsupported car

Wireless Android Auto is one of the most useful features to come along with Android 11. It’s great if you want to leave your cables in the past, but your car might not be ready for the jump. Some newer cars support wireless Android Auto right off the bat, but the rest of us will have to get creative. Luckily, there’s an Indiegogo project aiming to solve this headache for good.

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology explained

With battery life still struggling to accommodate the needs of heaviest smartphone users, reducing charging times is the next best thing. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology aims to do just that. The latest 2.0 version boasts up to 75 percent faster charging times than standard devices and HTC states that using the Rapid Charge 2.0 adapter states, you can charge your smartphone to 60 percent in just 30 minutes. Quick Charge 2.0 is built in to all of Qualcomm’s latest SoCs, meaning that most of us should be able to benefit from faster recharge speeds.

Vivo Nex review: Frustratingly imperfect, undeniably desirable (Update: Video added)

Vivo Nex SThe Vivo Nex brings some truly cutting-edge technology to the table but does so with an all-too-common mix of familiar failings. Even though we don't think it's the phone you (or we) really wanted it to be, it's still one of the most exciting phones we've seen in a long time. Table of contents The best part of the move to truly bezel-less phones is the weird and wacky solutions to the question of where to put everything that used to live above and below the display.

What I learned from downgrading

Upgrading was a huge deal in the early days of smartphones. Every year we’d see massive gains in performance, display, camera, and more. I remember this experience well, such as when I upgraded from Nexus 4 over to a Nexus 5. While today’s phones continue to obviously improve, it’s a much more incremental process. Recently I was forced to temporarily downgrade from my Google Pixel 4 XL to a Google Pixel 2 XL.

Samsung Galaxy A series US launch is a huge deal

Last week, Samsung announced that the newest phones in the Samsung Galaxy A series would be making their way to the United States. The six phones coming to the US — including two 5G-capable devices — range in price from a little over $100 up to $600 at the very top, and most of them offer all the basic features the average smartphone user needs and wants. Unlike Samsung’s star phone line — this year’s Galaxy S20 series — the launch of the Galaxy A series was very quiet, with just a simple press release.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Battery Tips

It’s a bit of a tough time to be a Note fan, as the whole series is in a bit of a limbo. Since the Note 7 recall, the brand has yet to see a new family member and until the Note 8 arrives this fall, that leaves fans with the Note 5 as the most “recent” option. We say recent very liberally, as the Note 5 is now nearly two years old.

What's inside the $40 Nexus 7 dock? Apparently not much!

YouTube user PsychoRadler is one of the lucky ones who have managed to get their hands on the recently released Asus Nexus 7 dock, and in the interest of scientific curiosity he has uploaded a video of himself taking a peek at the inner workings of the docking station. You’d be forgiven for thinking that a $40 docking station, which allows you to play music and charge your device through just a mini-USB connection, would require some impressive electronics.

The best curved TVs you can buy

Samsung brought the first curved AMOLED TVs to market in 2013, but they never quite took off as expected. While they offer an immersive viewing experience flat displays can’t match, they come with some significant downsides. These televisions can’t be mounted flush on flat walls, and due to their curved nature, they usually take more space. Furthermore, perspective can get distorted when viewing them from an angle, and you need to sit at the proper distance to get the total immersion you’re looking for.
