The LG G8 ThinQ is the latest in the G series of smartphones from the Taiwan-based company. Among other things, it packs in a 3,500mAh battery that uses Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard, LG includes one of its own FastCharge wall chargers in the G*, which allows it to charge up to close to half its capacity in about 30 minutes, and about 80 percent in about an hour.

Update, October 16, 2020 (09:45 AM ET): Not long after we posted the news below, some new evidence came to light that backs it up. The folks over at SamMobile claim to have an exclusive inside source who says that Samsung could launch the Galaxy S30 series in early January 2021. While this supports the ideas listed out in the original article below, this appears to be an even earlier launch window.
2019 was the year when competition in the smartphone camera space became ultra serious. The megapixel wars returned once again, and now we’re seeing phones with resolutions as high as 108MP. One of the strongest players in smartphone photography, Sony, is now showing off its brand new camera sensor called Sony IMX686.
Sony’s video shows a phone taking the still images which are said to be shot by the IMX686. But, the company makes it very clear that the phone is just a dummy.

The 1990s introduced Beyoncé, Friends, and catchphrases like, “Let’s get jiggy with it.” It also introduced music videos using fisheye lenses, giving them an ultra-wide view with strong visual distortion. Hoping to re-capture the magic is Moment, which today announced its Fisheye 14mm lens.
The lens features a 170-degree field-of-view, wider than GoPro devices and smartphones with ultra wide-angle lenses. According to Moment, the new Fisheye lens uses 15% more of the image sensor than the company’s existing 15mm Superfish Lens.

Pixel 6 billboards are also popping up in a few major cities ahead of the launch. Google is continuing to promote the launch of its upcoming Pixel 6 phones as more than just another release of a typical smartphone.
Update, August 7, 2019 (11:14AM EST): In an about-face, Samsung quietly promoted the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge back up to quarterly updates. In April, the company removed the two 2016 flagships from its quarterly updates list.
We’re not sure if Samsung will keep updating the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge once we enter 2020. That said, the company’s U-turn on the matter means people can hold onto the smartphones for a little while longer.
