Xiaomi has taken some large strides over the past couple of months. The biggest validation of its success came recently when it surpassed Samsung to become the number one smartphone seller in the world. That’s a huge accomplishment from where Xiaomi was just a few years ago.
Many factors came together to ensure Xiaomi’s climb to the top. My colleague Hadlee Simons discusses some of those reasons for Xiaomi’s meteoric rise in this article.
If you’re like me, you have trouble getting out of bed sometimes. There are plenty of alarm applications in the Google Play Store that make you do math problems or solve puzzles to turn them off, but none that are quite like this new app from Microsoft. Fresh out of the Microsoft Garage comes Mimicker Alarm, an app that will make you play games and make funny faces in order for it to turn off.
Some Nexus 4 users are reporting that the Android 4.4 KitKat OTA has finally graced their phones. The update comes just hours after the Verizon Moto X received the same bump to Android 4.4 and after Google rolled out a bug fixing update to some of its others Nexus devices.
Users on Twitter and on forums report that the update weighs in at 238 MB and that it brings the build number to KRT16S.
You may not have noticed, but smartwatches are finally becoming commonplace. The question being asked has shifted from “Should I get a smartwatch?” to “Which smartwatch should I get?”. Devices like the Apple Watch have made a wearable computer a luxury item and luxury watch companies are now making wearable computers. In fact, it’s become difficult to find a watch company that doesn’t now make a smartwatch.
The problem that persists though, is that, with the exception of a couple of companies, smartwatches are still a bit slow, and have less than stellar battery life.
HTC had timed the launch of its flagship HTC One just right, aiming to have the device available to consumers before devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 made it to stores. Unfortunately, a delay caused by supply shortages of the Ultrapixel camera components has led to the company losing out on a major advantage over its rivals. While this shortage could continue for up to a month, leading to the launch being pushed back even more, it looks like HTC might gain some of the advantage back as far as another important factor, price, is concerned.

Samsung’s S Pen Pro stylus has passed the FCC. The stylus will support the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and a host of other Samsung products. It also supports Air Actions on several devices. Previous rumors have pointed to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 debuting with S Pen support, which would make it the company’s first foldable device to welcome the stylus. Now, a new FCC listing all but confirms this.
This probably sounds obvious, but audio quality is a hugely important factor in a premium-tier smartphone. In fact, audio quality is increasingly important for mid-tier phones as well. From placing calls to playing back your favorite songs and streaming video, audio is at the heart of the mobile experience.
While headphones used to be at the heart of the smartphone audio experience, this is mostly a solved problem with regards to hardware.

The Best
Sprint first unveiled its branded credit card a few years ago in partnership with Home Credit, a financial institution based in Amsterdam. As is the case with most store-branded credit cards, Sprint’s credit card failed to gain much traction, but according to Wave7 and Fierce Wireless, that’s not stopping Sprint from branching out further.
Currently, the Sprint Credit Card is offered in over 500 Sprint stores in the US.

Motorola has launched the Moto G Stylus 5G. The 6.8-inch phone offers fast wireless and a pen, but it also sticks with a modest Snapdragon 480 chip. It will be available in the US on June 14 for $399.99. You might not have to spend Galaxy Note money if you’re looking for a pen-toting phone with 5G. Motorola has unveiled the Moto G Stylus 5G, a budget Android phone that offers both perks — with a few caveats.
