It is not possible to buy or rent content through Apple TV on Android TV. The app instead tells you to use an iPhone, iPad, or other streaming device. Apple hasn’t given an official comment, but the change is likely due to Google’s 30% commission fee. Over the past two years, there’s been quite a lot of controversy related to commission fees levied by both Apple and Google on their respective app stores.

Surviving in the smartphone market, even as an established name with millions of dollars in backing, isn’t easy. It’s like playing Minecraft in Survival Mode with a few friends who can help you out. Entering the smartphone market as a new player is playing Minecraft on Hardcore: any mistake, and it’s all over.
Managing to convince people to buy a premium smartphone that isn’t branded with Apple or Samsung is a tough job.
Twitter user @leftoblique posted the above photo of a Halloween Google graveyard that decorates an office at the Google Seattle campus. Each tombstone is emblazoned with a former Google service, including Google Reader, Google Buzz, Picasa, and even Google Plus, which only died off this year.
The Twitter user’s bio lists herself as a lead at the Google Chrome desktop UI feature team.
Although there are just six products viewable in the Google graveyard photo, there are many more dead Google services than that.

If the Star Wars movies were all about social networks fighting it out, Facebook would be the Galactic Empire, with Mark Zuckerberg as the Sith Lord. In other words, Facebook is enormous and has the financial resources to swallow scrappy little potential rivals or squash them with their Death Star laser and swat away any pesky nuisances like politicians trying to regulate them.
But there’s a good reason Facebook has got to this position — despite many people leaving the site due to privacy concerns, many more people love using the platform.
As you may know, in August 2011, HTC bought the majority ownership of Beats Electronics, the company that makes the favorite high-end headphones of Dr. Dre, Lady Gaga, and a bunch of other celebrities. Beats Electronics’ business model is simple – create product, get rapper/basketball player/movie-star endorsement, sell like crazy, repeat. But when they paid $300 million for Beats, HTC probably wanted more than just a piece of the niche, albeit lucrative high-end audio equipment market.
We first heard about Huawei’s plans to build a Google Maps alternative back in 2019. At the time, the company released a set of mapping tools for developers instead of a full-fledged navigation app. This was followed by reports of Huawei working with TomTom to possibly create its very own navigation service.
Last year, Huawei introduced the long-awaited Google Maps alternative for its phones, and it’s not made by Huawei or TomTom.
LG steps up its mobile game with the new innovative multitasking function ‘QSlide’, featured on the Optimus G, quite possibly the company’s most ambitious device on the market to date.
Similar features can be found on other devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy S III, and the new Note II. However, LG’s take on multitasking allows users to simultaneously run two applications, whilst exploiting the entire 4.7-inch display by having both applications become translucent upon QSlide activation.
When Motorola announced its Smart Speaker Moto Mod last month, we knew it would arrive sometime in November. Apparently that ‘sometime’ is November 7th. The Amazon Alexa-powered Moto Mod speaker will set you back $149.99 when it hits store shelves. The big question for owners of a Moto Z series device is whether or not you should actually bother. Honestly, we’d lean towards no.
The idea of a quality speaker on your phone that doubles as a full portal to Alexa sounds intriguing, but the execution is more than a little questionable.
