Google’s newly released Camera app comes with a nifty little feature called Lens Blur. The feature lets you select areas in a picture that you want to defocus, to imitate that special bokeh effect that you typically see on shots taken with high-end cameras. Polish developer Rafał Lindemann created Depthy, a tool that uses the depth map in Lens Blur shots to add a parallax effect to your images. Sometimes, the pleasures of Android customization require that we put to use small, single purpose apps to get the job done right. One such app is called Screen Filter, who’s single purpose is to dim your display well beyond the lowest brightness setting on your device. My first touch screen phone was an old Nokia 5233, which was pretty crude compared with today’s handsets. Never the less, it was Nokia’s Symbian OS which first wowed me as I swiped my way through the menus and widgets, wondering how I ever survived with just a keypad.
