TL;DR A leak suggested Google could reinstate the Active Edge feature on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. However, upon further examination, it seems the rumor was a false alarm. The leaked case listings for the phones also mention a Pixel 5 feature, but it’s unclear if that’s also a false alarm. Update, September 14, 2021 (11:30 AM ET): It looks like the news below may have been a false alarm.

In March of 2013, Samsung unveiled its newest smartphone: the Samsung Galaxy S4. After the runaway success of the Galaxy S3 from the prior year, Samsung had high hopes for the new flagship. Little did it know that the Galaxy S4 would go on to be not only its best-selling smartphone of all time, but the best-selling phone of Android’s entire history, with sales in excess of 80 million units.

As tablets continue to grow in popularity, we’ve seen many manufacturers turn towards the children’s tablet market. The end result is a near-countless number of kid-friendly options, though most of the devices tend to be from lesser known players in the Android world. This could be changing, as it looks like Samsung may soon introduce a kid-friendly tablet of its own, the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. Samsung is getting into high gear with its wearable devices this year, notably with the release of three smartwatches as successors to 2013’s Galaxy Gear line. The Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit all run the company’s proprietary Tizen platform, although each device is targeted at different market segments. Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting anything as earth-shattering as quitting Facebook. Square Enix seems bound and determined to bring pretty much all aspects of its Final Fantasy universe to mobile. We previously told you about Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition and now Square Enix is back with another release, King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon. King’s Knight, a mini game in FFXV, was originally developed in 1986 for Nintendo. The updated version is a vertical scrolling shooter with beautiful visuals.

David Imel / Android Authority MediaTek was in the news last month after tracking firm Omdia found that it was the world’s biggest smartphone chipset vendor in 2020. This would be the first time the Taiwanese chipmaker has achieved this goal, with its success attributed to low-end and mid-range segments.
