Google released the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL just over two years ago. The company has since updated the devices with each new iteration of Android since. Unfortunately, the platform’s most recent update, Android 10, seems to break Wi-Fi functionality on many Pixel 2 devices.
Thanks to a tip from Android Authority reader LW Rozanski, we’ve been notified of a Google support thread where hundreds of users are claiming Android’s latest update renders Wi-Fi nearly useless on their devices.

The update delivers Android 6.0.1 and all the associated benefits that come with it, as well as adding Wi-Fi and Video Calling and a bunch of security enhancements, including the August 1 security patch from Google. The build number is MMB29M – the same for both devices – and comes in at around 950 MB, so make sure you have a Wi-Fi connection and plenty of battery before downloading it.

Previously, changes to the WhatsApp privacy policy caused controversy. The company stuck to a May 15, 2021 rollout, though. Now, the company is loosening the restrictions surrounding that date, giving a longer indeterminate grace period. However, you are still going to need to accept the terms, eventually. Update, May 7, 2021 (12:26 PM ET): When we originally posted the article below, we based our information on one statement from WhatsApp.

The alleged specs just leaked for what appears to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 chipset. This mobile chip would be the 2021 follow-up to 2020’s Snapdragon 765 series. The leaked specs suggest this could be a 5nm build, which would blur the lines even more between “flagship” and “mid-range.” The most notable supposed upgrade with this series of chips is a 5nm build. This would offer faster and more power-efficient performance as compared to the 7nm build of last year’s models.

Samsung has delayed the One UI 3.0 beta for Galaxy S10 and Note 10 users, possibly delaying the Android 11 release. Battery drain and stability appear to be to blame. Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 2 users also face delays. A Samsung operation manager asked users to “wait a little” after the company encountered problems with the Android 11 release on the Galaxy Note 10 in a limited South Korean test.

Compiling user complaints from Reddit, XDA Developers, and the Pixel support forums, Android Police reports that Pixel 4‘s face unlock is simply failing for a bunch of users. Re-enrolling faces or resetting the phones also fails to solve the problem.
The issue apparently surfaced back in November and has been escalating ever since.

Two LG Nexus 5 versions have apparently received Wi-Fi certification – previously the LG-D820/LG-D821 smartphones have been seen in FCC and Bluetooth SIG documentation.
This time around we’re looking at two LG-D820 versions, the LG-D820_C and the LG-D820_S, although it’s not clear what the difference between the two devices is at this time.
While these particular model numbers are yet to be confirmed to be Nexus 5 handsets, we’ll note that the Wi-Fi certification documents mention that we’re looking at two LG smartphones.
