It’s not a new idea. Many features have been written on the subject of stagnation in the smartphone market — plenty from this website alone. Photos are getting sharper, displays are getting brighter, and batteries are charging faster. But if you look at what’s changed from 2013’s handsets (like the Samsung Galaxy S4) and today’s phones, we know, we can feel, that it’s all incremental at best. So why are we having the discussion again?

Who doesn’t love JerryRigEverything? We recently shared his teardown videos of the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 in which he shows you how to make a cool looking clear back for those devices. Minecraft Pocket Edition is without a doubt one of the most popular mobile games available for Android, in large part due to just how addictive the game can be. Even better, every new update seems to bring the mobile app a step closer to the deeper level of features found in the PC version. While the latest .0.7.3 update might be a minor one, it is no exception.

Google’s Nearby Share feature could gain a so-called Self Share mode soon. This would remove the need for approving shares between your own devices. Nearby Share is Android’s own take on local file-sharing, inspired by Apple’s Air Drop feature. However, one mild annoyance is that you need to approve each incoming share, even when sharing files between your own devices. Fortunately, it seems like Google is working on a solution.
Today in Beijing, Oppo introduced the Find 7, an ambitious effort that the Chinese company hopes will cement its status as a force to be reckoned with in the world of high-end Android devices.
The Find 7 actually comes in two variants, Standard and Premium, but don’t let the name fool you – even the Standard model packs some of the best specifications you can get on a smartphone right now.

Samsung will reportedly skip 3D ToF sensors on its Galaxy S22 phones. It’s believed the company is ditching the tech due to a “lack of clear advantages.” We saw 3D ToF sensors coming to smartphones back in 2018, allowing devices to more accurately calculate depth effects and augmented reality in theory. Samsung adopted the tech on the back of its phones too, before ditching it for the Note 20 and Galaxy S21 series.

Samsung will reportedly stick to side-mounted fingerprint scanners for its 2022 foldables. The company purportedly thought about adding an in-display fingerprint sensor to its upcoming foldables. Samsung has long stuck to side-mounted fingerprint scanners for its foldable phones, with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 adopting this type of fingerprint scanner too. Now, news out of Korea suggests that the 2022 foldables will stick to this location as well.

Verizon is giving away free copies of the Marvel’s Avengers game to Up Rewards members. You’ll have to be one of the first 5,000 claimants to get a copy. It’s available to both wireless and Fios customers. If you want to see how Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix handle a superhero game, you might not have to pay a thing — if you’re the right kind of Verizon customer, that is.
