Ah TouchWiz, where will we be without you? In a much better-looking place, that’s where. Samsung seems to have officially hung TouchWiz out to dry in the latest Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7. The software info page on that update now lists a Samsung Experience version number, reflecting the new refined UI that borrows heavily from the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.

First up, it appears the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus will directly integrate with Spotify. According to a leaked video (mirrored below), a long-press on one of the touch-capacitive earbuds will launch Spotify for you:
This will be super convenient for those users who love Spotify. However, the question remains whether the function will also work for other music streaming services.
The Pixel 2 XL is meant to showcase everything Google has to offer. The performance is fantastic, the camera is excellent, and the software is what Google wants Android to be. Unfortunately, hardware issues have dominated the conversation instead. From the display to the speakers, users have come across more than one Pixel 2 XL problem that shouldn’t be plaguing an expensive flagship.
No device is without its issues of course, and this smartphone is definitely no exception.
If the Xperia Z was Sony’s way of assuring us it’s still got it, the Xperia Z1 is Sony telling us that it’s done catching up and is now gunning for the first place, the position it owned undisputedly for so many years.
It takes more than a good smartphone to eclipse Samsung’s bright Galaxies. On paper, the Sony Xperia Z1 has it all – looks, build, specs, camera, software. But will the sum of these strengths outweigh the Xperia Z1’s weaknesses?

A high refresh rate is one of the key selling points for top-end smartphones in 2021, delivering a smoother, more responsive screen experience in supported apps and games. Whether it’s 90Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz, it’s hard to find a flagship phone that doesn’t offer this feature.
We’ve also seen the emergence of phones with an adaptive refresh rate, automatically offering a much lower refresh rate (e.g. 10Hz) when reading an ebook but scaling up to 120Hz or more when playing games or scrolling through system menus.

Security researchers are warning Android owners that your keyboard may be spying on you. Researchers from Adguard say that two variants of Go Keyboard are sending personal information to remote servers and executing unauthorized code on devices. Go Keyboard is developed by the Chinese GOMO Dev Team.
Adguard decided to look into traffic associated with keyboards after the Touchpal keyboard was caught displaying ads on HTC phones earlier this year. Researchers determined that the GOMO team was collecting sensitive information including the email address associated with your Google Play Store account, network type, screen size, Android version, and build number.
