Movies are constantly leaving streaming services. Sometimes they don’t even last more than a month. There are also plenty of new ones added each month, but it can be hard to keep track. You’ve probably added something to your Netflix or Hulu watchlist only to have it disappear when you’re ready to watch. That’s why each month, we compile a list of the best movies leaving streaming services.

Below are our top picks for June 2022. We’ve chosen films leaving streamers at the very end of the month to give you a bit of extra time to catch them before they’re gone.

Alien (1979)

This sci-fi horror classic will just be on Hulu for one month, landing on the streamer on June 1 and then disappearing on June 30. See it while you can. When a space freighter responds to a distress beacon, a few missteps lead to an alien lifeform stowing away on board and threatening the lives of the crew. Warrant officer Ellen Ripley has to use her wits to make it to safety in this brilliant film directed by Ridley Scott.

Brigsby Bear (2017)

Co-written by and starring SNL alum Kyle Mooney, Brigsby Bear is a bizarre and touching coming-of-age drama with a rather major twist. A man raised in isolation in a bunker is saved by authorities who reveal he was kidnapped as an infant and made to believe civilization had come to an end. Reunited with his birth family, he sets out to film an ending to the children’s show he grew up with once he learns it was produced entirely by the kidnapper he thought was his dad. 

Desperado (1995)

Director Robert Rodriguez’s western-infused actioner, part two in his “Mexico trilogy,” stars Antonio Banderas and Selma Hayek. Banderas plays El Mariachi, an outlaw drifter out for revenge against the drug kingpin who killed his lover. Teaming up with old allies and a beautiful bookstore owner, he goes to war.

Netflix is still the leading premium streaming service, with over 200 million worldwide subscribers. It offers thousands of movies and TV shows to binge watch, including its always growing list of original films and series, including Stranger Things, The Witcher, Bridgerton, and many more.

Drag Me to Hell (2009)

Director Sam Raimi returned to horror following his Spider-Man trilogy with this underrated masterpiece. When a bank employee rejects a struggling elderly woman’s pleas for a loan extension, she feels the full wrath of a demonic curse in this financial crisis-era movie. Can she find a way to break the spell, or will she be dragged to hell for her actions?

The Exorcist (1973)

A horror classic for a reason, The Exorcist is a chilling family nightmare that feels as fresh today as the day it came out in 1973. Don’t miss your chance to see the story of 12-year-old Regan MacNeil, who is possessed by a demon. Her mother scrambles to help for her daughter, eventually finding a priest who agrees to perform a controversial exorcism on the girl.

Looper (2012)

Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Out director Rian Johnson helms this brilliantly stripped-down sci-fi action film starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt. A hitman who specializes in time-travelling targets suddenly finds himself face-to-face with his older self, now marked for death. The two versions of the man have to work together to fight their shared fate. Looper is one of Bruce Willis’s best films and one of the best movies leaving streaming services this month.

Matchstick Men (2003)

Nicolas Cage is Roy, a depressed con man with obsessive-compulsive disorder. When his teenage daughter re-enters his life, Roy finds new purpose in parenthood, bonding with her as his symptoms begin to subside. But when she asks to be included in the family business, Roy has to find a nearly impossible balance between his family and work life.

Personal Shopper (2017)

Kristen Stewart stars in this eerie, beautiful psychological thriller from French director Olivier Assayas. Stewart plays Maureen Cartwright, a personal shopper for a supermodel. Maureen is also a medium, and she’s trying to contact her dead brother. As she receives strange and mysterious messages and suspects she’s being watched, the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur. Personal Shopper is easily one of the best movies leaving streaming services in June.

Solaris (2002)

Steven Soderbergh reimagines the classic 1972 Soviet film in this terrific sci-fi romance, based on the 1961 novel by Stanisław Lem. George Clooney stars as Dr. Chris Kelvin, who is contracted to travel to a space station orbiting the planet Solaris. Kelvin is needed to help with strange phenomena but gets only vague explanations. Once on the space station, he is forced to confront memories and visions of his dead wife by the sentient planet as he works to bring the crew home safely.

Based on the novel by Stephen King, Stand By Me is a celebrated classic about a group of boys who set out to find a body rumored to be on the railroad tracks near their homes. Along the way, their bonds of friendship are tested during a defining moment in their lives.

The Mummy (1999)

A classic 90s fantasy-adventure film, The Mummy is a loose remake of the 1932 film of the same name and stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. An outlaw adventurer reluctantly teams up with a librarian and her brother on a quest to find Hamunaptra, the city of the dead in Egypt. Once there, the three Americans accidentally revive the high priest Imhotep, who was buried alive and seeks to regain his physical form by killing them and unleashing plagues, all while rekindling an epic romance for the ages.
