Honor's upcoming phone to offer macro camera?

The Honor 20 series is less than a week away, and the Huawei sub-brand has already been teasing a few details. Now, it looks like the Honor 20 has been fully leaked by WinFuture, and it looks like a capable upper mid-range phone.

Honor’s new phone reportedly offers a 6.26-inch full HD+ LCD screen (with a previously mentioned punch-hole cutout), a flagship-level Kirin 980 chipset, at least 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Honor has previously confirmed that the device will offer a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Honor’s latest device sports a 48MP f/1.8 main camera (Sony IMX586), as well as a 16MP ultra wide-angle snapper. But it also offers a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP “macro” camera, according to WinFuture. The outlet notes that the macro camera is used to take close-up shots from just four centimeters away. By comparison, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro allows you to close the distance to just two centimeters.

$1,000 vs $300 smartphone camera: How do they compare?

Features

It’s suggested that Honor could be using AI smarts and image fusion capabilities to boost image quality from the macro lens. After all, a 2MP camera would likely deliver poor results on its own. So combining data from the 48MP shooter and/or using super resolution technology seems like a sensible move.
