Starting around front, the Mate 20 Pro features a 6.39-inch curved OLED display with a 3,120 x 1,440 resolution. The Mate 20 sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD with a lower 2,160 x 1,080 resolution.

Above this, both Mate 20 handsets feature a 24MP selfie shooter. While this single sensor allows for a “dewdrop” notch on the Mate 20, the Pro model includes a dot projector, a time-of-flight proximity sensor, a flood illuminator, and an IR camera for the 3D face unlock feature. Additionally, the Mate 20 Pro contains an in-display fingerprint sensor, while the Mate 20 keeps its fingerprint sensor around back.

The Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro are powered by the octa-core Huawei Kirin 980 CPU, dual NPUs, and a Mali-G76 GPU. The Mate 20 Pro is available with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. Depending on the model, the Mate 20 comes with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. Both handsets have expandable memory up to 256GB, but instead of microSD the phones use a new NM (nano-memory) card solution.

Around back you’ll find a tri-camera setup that gives both phones a unique look that completely differentiates it from the rest of the smartphone market. But as with all of the Huawei Mate 20 specs, the lager model has better optics. For the Mate 20 Pro, this translates into a primary 40MP sensor, an 8MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 20MP ultra-wide shooter.

The standard Huawei Mate 20 features a 12MP primary sensor, an 8MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor.

Additional specs include Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0, an IP68 rating on the Pro variant, and an included 3.5mm headphone jack on the standard model. Both handsets will be available in Pink Gold, Midnight Blue, Emerald Green, Twilight, and Black.

The Mate 20 features a 4,000mAh battery, while the Mate 20 Pro hits 4,200mAh. Both feature fast wireless charging at 15W, but the Pro can also charge other Qi-enabled devices wirelessly.

Looking at all of the differences between the standard Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro, there are some definite benefits for picking up the more expensive model. It’ll be up to you if you think the additional biometric security measures, reverse wireless charging, and everything else is worth the increased price.
