Motorola Moto E6 specs and where to buy
Motorola’s new Moto E6 goes on sale today, July 25, through Verizon Wireless. Motorola says it will roll the phone out to other carriers and markets — unlocked — over the months ahead. Here’s what you need to know.
This is the sixth-generation Moto E from Motorola. The phone maker is pitching the device as one that delivers a big screen with “all-day fun.” The screen measures 5.5 inches and has an 18:9 aspect ratio with Full HD+ resolution (1,440 x 720). That makes for a pixel density of 296, which is just short of “retina” quality. The display is an IPS LCD panel. Whether or not this qualifies as a “big screen,” I’ll leave to you.
As for all-day fun, Motorola buried a 3,000mAh battery under a removable rear panel. Believe it or not, the battery itself can also be removed — a rarity these days. The phone only supports 5W charging, so don’t expect super fast power ups.
Underpowered under the hood?
No one should be surprised to learn that Motorola is powering the Moto E6 an entry-level Snapdragon 435 under the hood. The eight 1.4GHz cores are aided by a paltry 2GB of RAM. The phone has only 16GB of built-in storage, but it accepts microSD cards up to 256GB. That should give you plenty of room for storing photos, videos, and music.
On the camera front, Motorola kept it simple. A single camera adorns the rear. It’s a 13MP shooter at f/2.0 with an LED flash and the standard array of features. That means auto HDR, software-assisted bokeh/portrait, Spot color, time-lapse, and more. The 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera carries over many of these same features.
Any remaining specs are par for the course in this segment. The phone packs microUSB (rather than USB-C), but it includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s no NFC, but it includes an FM radio. Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi are aboard, as is GPS/GLONASS for location services.
Motorola is making several variants of the phone, though the differences are limited to which LTE bands are supported and which are not.

Motorola’s initial launch partner is Verizon Wireless. Big Red will carry the phone for $149. Motorola said the Moto E6 will eventually reach more operators and markets over time. In the U.S., some of those operators include T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Consumer Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile. The E6 will also be available universally unlocked on Amazon.com and at Best Buy, B&H Photo and Walmart. Motorola did not provide timing for these launches other than to say later this summer.
