Although the Moto Z4 is clearly no competition for 2019 flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S10 or the OnePlus 7 Pro, it does have some nominal upgrades over its predecessor. It has a bigger battery, more internal storage, a larger screen-to-body ratio, and the addition of an in-display fingerprint sensor.
It will also be 5G-capable, since it will support the 5G Moto Mod, which is currently exclusive to the Motorola Moto Z3 (and will come soon to the Moto Z2 Force).
However, the downgraded processor, the relatively small amount of RAM, and the switch to a single rear camera lens might be off-putting to people who already own the Moto Z3. For new buyers, though, the Moto Z4 could be a viable choice if they are looking for a decent budget device.
The only problem those buyers will face is whether to fork out $500 on this or buy a Google Pixel 3a or even a OnePlus 6T instead. Those devices offer more features, better specs in a few categories, and aren’t locked to the Verizon network. Really, the only thing they’d lose is access to Moto Mods.
What do you think? Are the Motorola Moto Z4 specs enticing to you? Or will you pass? Let us know in the comments.
