Xiaomi Mi Band 7 launched with bigger screen, redesigned UI, and more

TL;DR
- Xiaomi has launched the Mi Band 7.
- The fitness tracker gets a bigger screen, a fresh UI, new features, and more colorways.
- There’s still no built-in GPS.
Xiaomi’s Mi Band range is undoubtedly one of the most successful ones in the fitness tracker market. The inexpensive wristbands have come a long way since the first model launched in 2014 without a display. Fast forward to 2022, and the Mi Band 7 is now on the market.
The first thing to note about Xiaomi’s latest Mi Band is that it’s bigger. The tracker gets a 1.62-inch Always-on AMOLED screen compared to the 1.56-inch display of the Mi Band 6. This, according to Xiaomi, increases the viewing area by 25%. The display’s pixel density remains the same as before at 326 PPI.
With the bigger screen, Xiaomi has also tweaked the UI on the band with redrawn icons, new effects, and reimagined data visuals. You also get fresh watch faces — 100 new, customizable ones, to be exact.
Xiaomi is adding two new band options for the Mi Band 7 in Camouflage and Fluorescent colorways. With these, the fitness tracker will be available in six different color variants.
Elsewhere, the Mi Band 7’s design remains pretty much the same as the older model, and that’s not really a bad thing. The pill-shaped screen attached to a slim band makes the tracker functional and convenient to wear.

Mi Band 7: Health tracking and other features

Xiaomi is touting four new sports data analysis options to measure training load, recovery time, maximum oxygen intake, and aerobic/anaerobic training effects. We’re not sure how well these new analytical tools will work, but we’ll be sure to check them out once we get the Mi Band 7 in for review.
For activity tracking, the Mi Band 7 brings 120 sports modes, covering outdoor sports and indoor exercises, including gym training, aerobics, and more. It can also track calorie consumption and analyze the results in tandem with heart rate statistics to understand fat loss efficiency.
The Mi Band 7 will vibrate and alert users when their blood oxygen drops below 90%.
Another improvement comes in the form of continuous blood oxygen monitoring and low SpO2 alerts. The Mi Band 7 will vibrate and alert users when their blood oxygen drops below 90%. The feature is targeted at mountaineers and long-distance runners to help them gain insight into their blood oxygen content in real-time.
In addition, the Mi Band 7 also supports all-day heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, stress monitoring, women’s health tracking, breathing training, and other popular health-tracking functions.
The Mi Band 7 is also 5ATM certified like its predecessor. This means it can withstand water pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters. Essentially, you can dive into the pool with this thing.
Sadly, there’s still no built-in GPS.
Battery Life
Xiaomi’s Mi Bands have always delivered impressive battery life, and this time is no exception. The company promises 14 days of uninterrupted usage with regular usage owing to a 180mAh battery. This makes it notably bigger than the 125mAh battery on the Mi Band 6.
In our experience, Mi Bands usually live up to their battery life promises. However, they tend to guzzle juice with more advanced features turned on. For instance, the breathing score and stress monitoring features on the Mi Band 6 depleted its battery pretty quickly. The Mi Band 7 gets even more power-hungry features like continuous SpO2 monitoring, but you can still expect at least a week’s worth of on-time with those turned on.
